On Saturday, November 21, the Concord Ed Fund (CEF) hosted its annual gala event at Nashawtuc Country club, the evening’s theme was “Mission Possible.”
The CEF is a nonprofit independent organization made up of parents that avidly supports the pursuit of excellence in our schools. The CEF funds grants for new teaching initiatives, programs, and curricula that are beyond the scope of the public school budget. Since it’s inception in 1994, the CEF has invested more than $2.5 million in approximately 200 grants for the Concord Elementary and Middle schools and the Concord-Carlisle High School.
At Saturday’s gala, approximately 300 spy-themed attendees enjoyed a great evening with cocktails, dinner, dancing and a casino. The silent and online auctions raised funds for the upcoming grant cycle. Auction items included vacation stays, unique opportunities from area donors, and one-of-a-kind items like a WBZ TV News experience with anchor Kate Merrill, a set of lockers form the old Concord-Carlisle High School, tickets to see American Idol, a chef’s tasting at Bondir, and a flight in a WWII-vintage bomber. CEF’s title sponsor, Cambridge Savings Bank provided volunteers to assist with the event, and presented their annual Title Sponsorship donation, which this year was $10,500.
