Eight grants were made totaling $33,620. Awards include grants that reach children in ail schools within the Concord Public Schools and the Concord‑Carlisle Regional High School. Grantees include teachers, staff and parents. Grants are:

Lending Library, Alcott School, Pilot in one kindergarten & one 1st grade class. The grant supports development of a classroom based, take-home library of newly available pre-reader books along with parent workshops to foster enhanced prereading activities by parents and their children. |

Electronic Storytelling, Thoreau and Willard Schools Offered to 3rd graders. The grant supports curriculum development and video equipment purchase for an after school program that develops children's multi-media production competency through hands-on workshops. |

Interdisciplinary Land Use Mini-Unit for Seventh Grade CMS Peabody and Sanborn All 7th graders. The grant supports collaboration between the science and social studies departments and community experts for development of a land use simulation using newly acquired town land behind Sanborn as a case study. Funds support curriculum development, teacher training and equipment. |

Problem Solving Real World Applications CMS Peabody and Sanborn 7th & 8th Grade math students. The grant provides curriculum development, materials acquisition, and teacher training for this 14 unit program which uses current events as subjects for mathematical problem solving. |

Integrating the Calculator-Based Lab into CCHS Math Curriculum CCHS. 60% of 9th-grade students. This grant enables the 9th grade math program to include a new series of math labs in which students get hands-on experience collecting and interpreting data for mathematical problem solving. Funds will be used for equipment purchase, curriculum development and teacher training. |

Makings School Work, CCHS 20-30 incoming 9th and 10th graders. This grant supports the introduction of a social orientation and monitoring program for newly entering students who have bees identified as at risk of underachieving at the high school. Funds will help support teacher and staff participation and training. |

Microcomputer Based Laboratory (MBL), CCHS All chemistry students. This grant supports the acquisition of the interfacing hardware and software necessary for full-class implementation of MBL investigations in chemistry. |

Technological Support for the CMS Art Room, Peabody, All art students. This grant provides hardware and software for the Peabody art room. The flat project using this equipment will be a unit on the development of skills for creating graphic presentations. Collaborative projects between the art department and other disciplines within the school will be expanded. |
